Shatter, with its flawless, amber, glass transparency, has a reputation for being the purest cannabis extracts. In this sense, we refer to 'purity' as having high cannabinoid (THC/CBD) content. However, transparency isn't an absolute when speaking about product quality. The consistency and texture of oil are reliant upon other factors. 

The transparency of shatter can be attributed to the hardening of molecules which, if left undisturbed, form this appearance. FUN FACT:

Scientists believe that one of the reasons the cannabinoid THC first evolved was as a defense mechanism that worked to ward off herbivores. Due to it's psychoactive properties, the animals that did ingest the plant would become disoriented and avoid the plant in the future.

Perhaps instead of a deer cull we should plant cannabis plants in our yards to prevent the deer from consuming our shrubs...just a suggestion ;)

Cannabis in India || Article + Recipe!!

Cannabis in India

Like the majority of ancient colonies, those in ancient India also discovered the medical properties of Cannabis. Cannabis has been used in Ayurvedic and Indian medicine for over 3000 years.

Currently cannabis is illegal in India, however, how they classify "cannabis" is quite interesting. 

In India Cannabis is classified as: The flowering or fruiting tops of the cannabis plant, excluding the seeds and leaves. The seeds and leaves are legal providing they are not accompanied by the flower and in most Indian states bhang 

Indian culture and Ayurvedic medicine refer to the leaves and seeds of cannabis as Bhang and it is the most common method of preparation of Cannabis, traditionally used in food and drink in the Indian culture.

Using mortar and pestle, the buds and leaves of cannabis are ground into a paste. 

To this mixture, milk, ghee and spices are added.

Bhang has become an integral part of tradition and custom in the Indian subcontinent. 

In some sections of rural India, people attribute various medicinal properties to the cannabis plant. 

If taken in proper quantity, bhang is believed to cure fever, dysentary, sunstroke, to clear phlegm, aid in digestion, appetite, cure speech  and lisping, and give alertness to the body!

Holi (pronunciation: /ˈhoʊliː/; Sanskrit: होली Holī) is a spring festival, also known as the festival of colours or the festival of sharing love. It is an ancient Hindu religious festival which has become popular with non-Hindus in many parts of South Asia, as well as people of other communities outside Asia. The celebration is often capped off with Bhang Milkshakes!!! 

We've included a delicious Bhang Milkshake Recipe! Try it out and let us know what you think! We've gone with the western version utilizing leaves and flower/buds in place of seeds.

Medicate responsibly and please drink 1/4 a cup at a time until you see how you are affected. Do not operate heavy machinery, this milkshake is NOT SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN. This milkshake contains enough cannabis to intoxicate you.can only be sold by authorized retailers. 

Flavoured Bhang

Ingrediants

2 cups water

1 ounce marijuana (fresh leaves and flowers of a female plant preferred for western preparation. 1 ounce seeds and leaves for traditional indian prep)

4 cups warm milk

2 tablespoons blanched and chopped almonds

1/8 teaspoon garam masala (a mixture of cloves, cinnamon, and cardamon)

1/4 teaspoon powdered ginger

1/2 to 1 teaspoon rosewater

1 cup sugar

Bring the water to a rapid boil and pour into a clean teapot. Remove any seeds or twigs from the marijuana, add it to the teapot and cover. Let this brew for about 7 minutes. 

Now strain the water and marijuana through a piece of muslin cloth, collect the water and save. 

Take the leaves and flowers and squeeze between your hands to extract any liquid that remains. Add this to the water. 

Place the leaves and flowers in a mortar and add 2 teaspoons warm milk. Slowly but firmly grind the milk and leaves together. Gather up the cannabis and squeeze out as much milk as you can. Repeat this process until you have used about 1/2 cup of milk (about 4 to 5 times). Collect all the milk that has been extracted and place in a bowl. By this time the marijuana will have turned into a pulpy mass. 

Add the chopped almonds and some more warm milk. Grind this in the mortar until a fine paste is formed. Squeeze this paste and collect the extract as before. Repeat a few more times until all that is left are some fibers and nut meal. Discard the residue. 

Combine all the liquids that have been collected, including the water the marijuana was brewed in. Add to this the garam masala, dried ginger and rosewater. Add the sugar and remaining milk. 

Chill, serve, and enjoy.

Le 29 janvier 2015, la Commission sur la santé du Parlement catalan a approuvé le contrôle sanitaire des associations cannabiques.
Dix-sept recommandations destinées aux municipalités dont dépendra, en dernier recours, le contrôle final de ces clubs ont été publiées au Journal officiel du gouvernement de la Catalogne (DOGC).
Avec cette loi, élaborée sous la supervision de l’agence de santé publique de Catalogne (ASPCAT), on prétend simplement « protéger, promouvoir et améliorer la santé des citoyens à l’aide d’une politique visant à réduire les dommages subis par le consommateur de cannabis ».
On fournit ainsi un cadre juridique aux exigences de base et on met fin à l’insécurité juridique dans laquelle vivaient les 400 associations présentes en Catalogne.
Une série de recommandations permettront à des milliers de consommateurs de cannabis de sortir de l’éternel vide juridique dans lequel ils se trouvaient.
Même si on espérait, au début, que le transport et la culture du cannabis seraient également approuvés, de l’avis général, c’est un sentiment de satisfaction qui domine.
La Catalogne a montré qu’elle était à l’avant-garde de la légalisation et, même s’il reste encore beaucoup de chemin à parcourir, cette loi constitue indéniablement un grand pas en avant.

Emperor Shen Nung //Cannabis in China// Where it All Started.

Marijuana was so prized in China for it's many uses that China was once known as the land of Mulberry and Hemp. Cannabis Sativa is an old plant with a long history. Produced mainly for its strength as a fiber and for its medicinal uses, it has even been grown for food. 

Some of the earliest archeological hemp evidence, about 10,000 B.C., comes from twine marks on broken Chinese pottery. Bits and pieces of hemp cloth have also been found in Chinese burial chambers from the Chou Dynasty. 

The Chinese also relied on hemp for weapons. Due to its strength and ability to last, the Chinese made bowstrings from hemp. Hemp bows are stronger than bamboo, the Chinese arrows were able to go further.  This was a large advantage in war. In fact, hemp was so important that Chinese monarchs allocated large portions of land specifically for growing hemp - the first war crop.

Essentially, the Chinese used the hemp plant for rope, clothing, bowstrings, and of course, medicine.  The ancient emperor, Shen-Nung is known as the Father of Chinese Medicine. He taught the cultivation and production of hemp in the 28th century. Shen-Nung was a renowned farmer and believed plants could heal.

Shen-Nung came across Ma (cannabis) and wrote about it extensively.

During the second century A.D., a Chinese surgeon, Hua T'o, began to use cannabis as an anesthesia. He combined cannabis resin with wine (ma-yo) and used it to reduce pain during surgery.

Cannabis was a mulitipurpose plant to the ancient Chinese. It has been cultivated and used for over 4000 years. It was used for war, writing, food, and medicine but there is very little mention of its psychoactive properties by the Chinese. It wasn't until India came upon cannabis that it became a widespread religious and medicinal intoxicant.
